On Monday 20th July Dave completed the Etape du Tour 2009 along with Dougie Cleland, Giles Lewis, Paul Garner, Nico Braxton and Piers Hedley. The etape is the same stage as the penultimate stage of this years Tour de France. The route took us through 150km of Provence including fours cols finishing with reputedly the toughest climb in France - the 21km Mont Ventoux. It was a brilliant day and a brilliant bike ride. The Ventoux was tough but we all pedalled up it even though many around us had to walk it or give up! Woop! Woop! 18/6/09 Check the ever increasing equipment sales page for all sorts of hard and software... Brilliant German success in March**** Well done to the mighty Blake Williams, Richard Knapp, Tom Mayne, Mark Birch and Sam Pickup for passing their Eurotest in Obersdorf. AVMS training needed? Podium doesn't just run Eurotest training. We also runs performance training with Interski for those wishing tocontinue training towards their higher BASI exams.
24/7/2008...ski reg confirmation for Eurotest 2008-9 In the FIS publication for ski regulations and equipment for season 2008-2009, it is stated that 21m remains the minimum length for FIS giant slaloms [although not Europa Cup, World Cup etc]. In short this means that people with GS skis from last year may not need to buy new ones [unless they're knackered!] and anyone buying this year will have no problems as the manufacturers build skis to the regulations in force.
9/7/2008 Prices confirmed for Autumn 2008 training in Tignes The price per week training block is 220€ for the Tignes autumn training. There are also discounts available for returning trainees. Email for the 2008 pricing sheet and payment methods. We may restrict training in most weeks to 2 groups this year so there may be limited places. Make sure you reserve yours! Podium also get great camp rate discounts on lift passes.
6/7/2008 A heartfelt goodbye to Ali Rainback.
Ali was one of the Britain's best ski instructors and passed away on the 22nd June 2008 from a tumour of the brain stem. After the discovering of his condition in November 2007, Ali battled bravely and with a dignity and integrity of character that few of us could hope to possess. Aside from his skiing achievements, Ali was one of the nicest, personable people you could meet and had an infectious enthusiasm and positive drive for everything he did. He will be sorely missed by myself and many, many others. A fund has been set up in his name to make money for the hospice that supports other people in Ali's situation. Any donations would be gratefully recieved. http://www.justgiving.com/alirainback

Summer camp 2008 Les 2 Alpes The camp was a great success with hard pistes to train on and great weather. A big thank you to all the participants. The camp included some great developmental training to really improve the skiing skills of the guys on the course. It also included evening sessions on stretching, core training, coordination as well as trips white water rafting, visits to the Venosc adventure park and for some a cycle up the famous climb of Alpe d'Huez! Well done to Blake Williams for a convincing victory on the final day race and timing day.
Well done to Danny McCabe who decided to celebrate his 48th birthday with an assault of Alpe d'Huez [1100m of vertical and a 14km road] alongside Dave Mitchell and Dave Morris on this year's summer training.
