Well done Blake Williams for boshing the test technique this week! About time! Well done for all the hard work, and well done for coming out on the first run to make it more exciting!

16/12/10 Hugh Bullen and Marc Walton smash it up!

Nice one Hugh and Marc. Hugh passed on the first run [even including a brief fall in his run] and Marc smashed the second run with fastest time of all candidates and under three seconds off the fastest opener and about one and a half off the slower one. Pictures to follow.

Creditable performances by Speedy, Louis and Gareth put them between 0.6 and 1.2 seconds off the pace. Won't be long...

Well done to all racers this week...keep grafting!

14/12/10

Lift pass information

Podium gets a preferential rate as it is an official ‘stage’ of Tignes. For autumn 2010 the price is 135 euros for 5 days and 145 euros if the piste Double M is open. As of the 27th November the Espace Killy opens and the 5 days changes to 175 euros pw. However, we have an option for any long stayers 4 wks ...plus to buy a 'autumn season' pass at 559€ making it approx 139 euros pw

4/08/10

Please note that there are limited spaces for the accomodation package in Tignes so contact early to avoid disappointment [ info@thetigneschaletcompany.com ]and also that the chalet accomodation unfortunately can only be provided from the 2nd week of training [Weekend of 6/7 November]

Why train in Tignes? There are many reasons to consider Tignes as your training destination of choice this autumn...

- Snow sure

- One of the only glaciers with a funiculaire access rather than cable car meaning you potentially lose fewer of those precious training days

- A wide range of accomodation from appt to hotel including our great catered chalet option

- Organised races between the the various training groups with calibrated openers

- Likelihood of lower slope training because of the resort altitude [2000m] if the glacier becomes to 'wintery'

- Podium deals on lift passes for trainees

- Awesome sports facilities and free entrance to swimming pool on the lift pass

20/07/09 Etape du Tour 2009 Montelimar - Mont Ventoux

On Monday 20th July Dave completed the Etape du Tour 2009 along with Dougie Cleland, Giles Lewis, Paul Garner, Nico Braxton and Piers Hedley. The etape is the same stage as the penultimate stage of this years Tour de France. The route took us through 150km of Provence including fours cols finishing with reputedly the toughest climb in France - the 21km Mont Ventoux. It was a brilliant day and a brilliant bike ride. The Ventoux was tough but we all pedalled up it even though many around us had to walk it or give up! Woop! Woop!

Will Roberts after passing in Garmisch Dec 2008 [and beating the German opener haha!]. Nice one Will! And well done to Joe Harkness and Craig Wilson too!

Ben Harris after passing the Eurotest in Alpe d'Huez in December 2007

Fred Diblee after passing the Eurotest in Alpe d'Huez by over 2 seconds!

AVMS training needed?

Podium doesn't just run Eurotest training. We also runs performance training with Interski for those wishing tocontinue training towards their higher BASI exams.

24/7/2008...ski reg confirmation for Eurotest 2008-9

In the FIS publication for ski regulations and equipment for season 2008-2009, it is stated that 21m remains the minimum length for FIS giant slaloms [although not Europa Cup, World Cup etc]. In short this means that people with GS skis from last year may not need to buy new ones [unless they're knackered!] and anyone buying this year will have no problems as the manufacturers build skis to the regulations in force.

9/7/2008 Prices confirmed for Autumn 2008 training in Tignes

The price per week training block is 220€ for the Tignes autumn training. There are also discounts available for returning trainees. Email for the 2008 pricing sheet and payment methods. We may restrict training in most weeks to 2 groups this year so there may be limited places. Make sure you reserve yours!

Podium also get great camp rate discounts on lift passes.

6/7/2008 A heartfelt goodbye to Ali Rainback.

Ali was one of the Britain's best ski instructors and passed away on the 22nd June 2008 from a tumour of the brain stem. After the discovering of his condition in November 2007, Ali battled bravely and with a dignity and integrity of character that few of us could hope to possess. Aside from his skiing achievements, Ali was one of the nicest, personable people you could meet and had an infectious enthusiasm and positive drive for everything he did. He will be sorely missed by myself and many, many others. A fund has been set up in his name to make money for the hospice that supports other people in Ali's situation. Any donations would be gratefully recieved. http://www.justgiving.com/alirainback

6/7/2008 Summer camp 2008 Les 2 Alpes

The camp was a great success with hard pistes to train on and great weather. A big thank you to all the participants. The camp included some great developmental training to really improve the skiing skills of the guys on the course. It also included evening sessions on stretching, core training, coordination as well as trips white water rafting, visits to the Venosc adventure park and for some a cycle up the famous climb of Alpe d'Huez! Well done to Blake Williams for a convincing victory on the final day race and timing day.

Well done to Danny McCabe who decided to celebrate his 48th birthday with an assault of Alpe d'Huez [1100m of vertical and a 14km road] alongside Dave Mitchell and Dave Morris on this year's summer training.
