Zinal November 2024

ISIA Speed Test Training

Podium’s November camp (18th–29th) began with some early-season challenges. With limited snow in Zinal, the team relocated the opening days to Saas Fee, making the most of the glacier before further snowfall closed training there.

To keep momentum, coaches Tom Waddington and Cammy Gunn delivered strength & conditioning sessions and presentations on ski preparation, performance state, and race tactics. Once conditions improved in Zinal, the group returned and benefitted from excellent snow for the remainder of the camp.

Daily access to the ISIA race piste provided valuable practice in a test-like environment, with full-length courses replicating the demands of the BASI ISIA Speed Test.

The camp concluded just before the official test, where seven Podium trainees achieved a pass. This result reflected both the group’s commitment and the effectiveness of focused preparation in a range of conditions. This training camp is one of the courses that make up our Ski Instructor Race Training.
